Shun Liu

I'm an incoming CS PhD student at Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond VA, United States, advised by Prof. Nan Xi. Prior to that, I obtained the B.E. from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. During the undergraduate study, I was fortunate to be advised by Prof. David Doermann and Dr. Xuan Gong at the State University of New York at Buffalo (UB), and Prof. Soroush Vosoughi at Dartmouth College.

My research interests lies in the area of Generative Modeling and Multimodel Reasoning, as well as their applications in the biomedical domain, w.r.t. the reliability, interpretability, and generalization ability.

We propose MEDFuse, a multimodal EHR fusion framework integrating masked lab-test modeling and fine-tuned LLMs to unify structured lab results and unstructured clinical notes. Evaluated on MIMIC-III and internal FEMH datasets, MEDFuse reaches over 90% F1 score on 10-disease multi-label classification for reliable clinical prediction.
